島民工作室於2006年4月成立，由一群從事藝術與設計相關工作成員組成，主要以結合藝術、設計、人文與生活為發展方向。

 

 

 

身為藝術家、設計師與都市律動的觀察者，遊走於世界各城市島嶼與台灣之間、穿梭於各種不同形式空間，參與、思考並觀察台灣島的文化與社會脈動，從中找尋新創意、新概念，用以創造現代都會生活中，愉悅、舒適、富美感的氛圍與環境。

 

 

「島民」以台灣今日文化與生活形式為起點，探討現代島民生活特色。

 

島民的創意空間，為當代藝術創作、書寫、及生活設計品的設計提供了一個互動交流的平台，嘗試在藝術與創意實踐間參與、反思、並創造新一代的島民生活經驗。

 

設計服務項目包含: 平面設計、包裝、企業禮贈品開發設計。

 

工作室的硬體空間設計，以玻璃、水泥及原木質材為基調，多層交疊、曲面變化、富穿透性，此設計適切地為島民工作室提供了一個多功能藝文工作空間。

 

除了是一文化創意產業及設計工作室外，更是一對外開放的展覽空間。

 

工作室定期舉辦畫作、攝影、雕塑、圖書、或設計等展覽。

 

推開黑巧克力色鑄鐵大門後的第一層空間，為畫廊展示空間及開放式廚房、連接此空間的是地下一樓展覽廳及位於此空間後半部的工作區域。

 

工作室的動線因空間的穿透感與開放性而顯得流暢且充滿可能性，參觀者可選擇在一樓的畫廊及設計品展示區觀賞作品、往地下室進一步參觀展覽。

 

偏重文化、設計與創意的概念更可在工作室的細部裝飾處理上觀察到。

 

無論是對藝術品吊掛展示的處理、展覽主題的深度論述、對傢具、裝飾品的選擇、或是辦公空間的設計等，都令人耳目一新。

 

　　 About Islanders Studio Established in April 2006, the Studio is made of a team of members specialized in art and design related areas. The shop front has been newly opened on the 12th May, 2007. The chief goal of the Studio is to combine art, design, and literature with life style. As artists, designers and urban observers, we journeyed among islands of urban metropolises, among spaces of different kinds. We think, observe, and participate in the cultural and social pulses of Taiwan and of the world – that very pulse through which creativity and the new ideas of urban life effuse. The cultures of metropolitan islands provide our base to explore the characteristics of islander and global life styles. Through our explorations we strive to create a way of life suffused with pleasure, comfort, style and creativity. We are inspired by contemporary culture and life in Taiwan and explore the characteristics of modern life of the world. The creative space of Islanders provides a platform for the interaction between contemporary art, writing and design. It attempts to reflect islanders’ experience between art and practices and to create the art of our generation. The primal motives of glass, concrete and natural wood lend a great charm to the design of the Studio space. With optimal transparency, curved walls and multiple layers intercepting with each other, the space provides the Studio a multi-functional work environment. Cultural creativity and innovative designs form the key foundation of the Islanders Studio. In addition to a showcase for design products and a caf?, the Studio holds public exhibitions on paintings, photography, sculpture, books and designs. Studio’s intention to promote culture, art, design and creativity is illustrated through the detail arrangements of the design of its space. The circulation of the Studio is open, smooth and full of possibilities. The open-air caf? courtyard of the building is most welcoming. Once visitors walk through the chocolat-noir iron door, they will enter the first exhibition room. The open kitchenette at one corner of the first room is cozy and inviting. One has the alternatives to sit down and have a cup of coffee, to go downstairs to see the exhibition further, to observe the space and design products in the first room, or to simply exchange ideas with the staff at the Studio. Every details of the Studio offers visitors experiences of a fine combination of art, culture and design, be it the way artworks are arranged, the depth of the exhibition themes, the selection of furniture and decorations, or even the design of the toilettes and workspaces. It is a place where art and culture meets innovative life styles.
