臺大動物博物館成立於1928年，自臺北帝國大學時期以來，典藏了許多珍貴的動物標本。早期收藏主要為記錄臺灣本土及鄰近地區的動物相；爾後因應經濟發展需求，專注於鼠類及魚類的收集；近年來則對各類型的動物，進行有系統的分類研究，總館藏超過兩萬件。目前，我們於校總區生態池旁的生命科學館一樓，規劃了一個「生命科學新體驗」特展，開放展示的標本包括鯨魚、亞洲象，以及一些鳥類標本。這些標本，統合在「聲音」的主題下，一方面顯現牠們不同的生態特性以及動物本能，另一方面也希望本特展能帶給您生命科學的新體驗。

The Museum of Zoology was established in 1928 during the Japanese colonial period and the valuable animal specimens have been collected since the beginning. In the early days, recording the fauna of Taiwan and its neighboring areas was the major purpose of our collection. Later on, due to the economic development, rodents and fishes became the main collection targets. In these years, the collection expands, contingent on the research interests of individual faculty members.
At present, a special exhibition of "A New Experience of Life Science" is held in the Museum of Zoology. The exhibits, including toothed whales, baleen whales, Asian elephants, and several birds are organized and displayed under the "bioacoustics" theme. You can not only learn about the animals' sounds, their habitats and habits, but also the physical properties of their sounds. We hope that this special exhibition will bring you a new impression on life science.
