Edgar Stillman Kelly, American composer and author (1857-1944) wrote "Lady Picking Mulberries: a Chinese Episode" in 1888 on a Chinese motif. It has undergone various arrangements over the years. It was one of several of Kelly's songs selected for a Broadway play in 1920 entitled "Namiko-San," a musical play set in Japan. Kelly added lyrics to this piece for the play.
This acoustic recording is from a Columbia 78 rpm disk (ca.1910) with Prince's Orchestra.
