Spent the 2013 Christmas in 七星潭, Hualien, Taiwan. The place was by the seaside with a number of 民宿 (B & B). 七星潭 means 7 lakes, the guide told me that it was because the sea there was calm as a lake. It was anything but. In old times, the area was a marshy area with a number of lakes.
We stayed at 七星海民宿. The place was beautiful and the people friendly. Breakfast good and the dinning room homely.
Morning jog by the sea was really good.
