地質標本館位於臺大地質科學系館旁，內部屋樑以臺灣檜木為材料，屋脊上的圓柱型天窗、黑瓦及兩旁的五邊型長窗是典型的日式建築特色，歷經70餘年至今仍完好如初。標本館藏有大量珍貴的典藏標本，包括化石標本、礦物標本、岩石標本，總數超過三千五百件以上。館內右側展示櫃擺放了歷年收藏的標本，並以數位檔的方式展示這些價值匪淺的標本。此外，館內左側定期舉辦不同主題的展覽，從探討臺灣地質環境到地質系研究成果展，將地質科學轉變成生活化的知識，期許透過這些展覽能讓民眾更了解我們居住的環境，激起「生於斯，長於斯」的愛鄉情懷。

 

The Geo-specimen Cottage is an independent building next to Department of Geosciences. Since it has been established in the time of Japanese Authorization, its Japanese-styled exterior, such as column louvers, black tiles, and antiquated woody roof, all make you recall the old exotic days. The Geo-specimen Cottage owns a plenty of precious collections of fossils, minerals, and rocks in excess of 3,500 specimens. The collections are arranged at two sides. At the right side, we store up specimens. Special exhibits are held periodically at the other side. By looking into geological environment in Taiwan, we try to explain geological knowledge to the public with vivid illustrations and comprehensible descriptions as well as to draw people to the place where they dwell in.
