走過文化走廊，沿著羅漢步道，遠眺太平洋的廣闊美景，我們到了靈鷲山的「開山聖殿」。

 

開山聖殿於1984，殿內供奉全臺灣第一尊左臥佛，一直到2007年底，左臥佛遷駐大禪堂旁，開山聖殿才迎來自泰國僧王寺的臥佛。心道法師曾說「建築要活在大自然裡」，於是大殿的建築尊重自然，並且與山林萬物愉悅共鳴，開山聖殿高僅一層緊鄰崖壁，前有巨石，巨石上曾隱隱浮現藏文中，象徵萬有生命潛藏生命發生的種子字「吽」字，不思議之事一時傳為聖山美談。

 

 

說起大殿內的水，是心道法師當年率眾開山建造大殿時，發現麒麟岩壁所流出的泉水清涼甘甜，引入殿內後，每天由常住法師以如守觀世音菩薩之大悲心精神，持誦《大悲咒》加持，這就是我們耳熟能詳的「大悲水」的由來。

 

心道法師從內修到外弘，從頭陀苦行至菩薩道，面對這片汪洋大海，以及山勢酷似佛陀弘揚大乘佛法的印度靈鷲山，道場取名為「無生道場」，希望以慈悲的胸懷發願度眾，回小向大，自利利他，而佛法的慧炬也從臺灣東北角，緩緩向海天之際輻射而開。

 

走近開山聖殿旁的正覺塔，宛若來到印度菩提迦耶正覺塔，主塔內供奉由九頭龍王護蔽的佛陀禪定法像，千佛參天的角錐柱狀佛塔，是以純紅銅鑄建而成，塔上千尊佛像的莊嚴攝受，更讓人感受佛陀得道時的殊勝與法喜，啟建這座正覺塔，不僅是心道法師的願力，更是凝聚諸方大德供佛積福的發心護持，心道法師鼓勵大眾，能多在此親近佛法、精進修行，一起走向圓滿成佛之路。

 

From here we walk along the Path of the Five Hundred Arhats, overlooking the fine view of the Pacific Ocean. Here you are at the Founder's Hall, which was built in 1984. Enshrined in this hall is a golden left-reclining Buddha from Thailand, the first one in Taiwan, which was moved to the meditation hall in 2007. In the Founder's Hall, there is now a new reclining Buddha from the Royal Thai Temple. Master Hsin Tao once said: "Architecture should be in harmony with nature." The Hall was constructed as part of the environment, sharing the mountain's natural beauty and the Hall's tiled-roof stone structures hugging the cliffs. In front of the Founder's Hall, there is a huge boulder on which the Guanyin seed syllable hūṃ has surfaced. It is a naturally formed hūṃ written in the Tibetan script, which has become an enjoyable topic in the sacred mountain.

 

Out of the stone wall behind the Hall is a natural spring with fresh flow water. The spring water is channeled into the Hall where it is blessed every day by the chanting of Guanyin's Great Compassion Mantra. This is how" Great Compassion Water" comes to us.

 

Master Hsin Tao emphasizes the integration of inner cultivation and active engagement with the world. When he first came here, he was struck by the mountain's resemblance to Vulture Peak in India. Thus, he named this place as "Wu Sheng Monastery" to help people generate their compassion, benefit themselves and others. It serves as a beacon of wisdom and compassion that overlooks the vast sea, reaching beyond in all directions.
Next to the Founder's Hall you will see a reproduction stupa of India Bodhgaya's Mahabodhi Temple.

 

Enshrined here is the Buddha mediation statue shielded by the Nine-heads dragon. Red bronze in pyramid column stupa is towering with thousands of Buddha statues. People feel auspicious and great joy as though sharing Buddha's enlightenment. Building this stupa was not only the vow of Master Hsin Tao, but also the embodiment of disciples' compassion as well as their abiding faith. Dharma Master Hsin Tao encourages the public to come closer to the Bodhidharma and practice diligently towards Buddhahood.
